Pierre: Many ambitions


Pierre was born in 1982 and grew up in Ioba, one of the 45 provinces of Burkina Faso, located in its Sud-Ouest Region.

Pierre is the eldest son and has four brothers and three sisters. His father is a retired primary teacher and his mother a housewife. When he finished his a-levels in 2003 he left his village started studying law at the University of Ouagadougou.

Rokiatou: The torn wife


Rokiatou Camara was born in Bamako in 1982 as the youngest of eight brothers and sisters. The first four years of her life, she spent in a small village in the region of Gao. Her mother was a housewife and her father worked for a textile company. Money was always scarce and it was more important to provide the whole family with food than single children with education. After the sudden death of her mother, she was given to the wife of her father’s boss in Bamako.

Amadou: The innovative mind


Amadou Diakite was born in 1983 as the oldest of eight children in Segou. His father died, when he was in his teenage years and his mother lives today in Bamako as a business woman. Amadou is proud of his education, because he has not only been educated by school and Islam, but also by the street.

“Some people say that I can’t do this job every day without any rest. But their limits are not mine! I force myself to do that and I know that I am strong."

Awa: A realistic plan


Awa was born in 1985 in Ouagadougou. She studied psychology at the University of Ouagadougou from 2008 to 2012 and since then is looking for a job, yet still without success. She finally decides to do a master in project development at a private university in order to get independent from her father’s financial support. She is hoping to get married soon, but she did not meet the right partner yet. Thus, she tells herself that her first husband will be her future job, and then she would reconsider the marriage matter.
